….says Kogi Remains Nigeria’s Safest State
The Kogi State Government has said the massive construction works going on in the state are aimed at “building on the massive but silent achievements of the first term of the Alh. Yahaya Bello Administration”.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo stated this in Abuja, Thursday while addressing a select group of journalists. He said the construction works are targeted at the thematic areas of the Yahaya Bello Administration.
His words: “People are talking now because we are building on the giant strides of the first term of Governor Yahaya Bello, so the infrastructural development plan is becoming more visible and magnificent.
“We completed quite a number of road projects in the first term across the three Senatorial Districts. We also built a good number of hospitals, schools and the second largest but the best Rice Mill in Northern Nigeria. The Governor didn’t make noise about those gigantic achievements, but the people responded with their resounding votes”.
Fanwo said the entire state is witnessing massive construction of schools, hospitals and roads.
“We have gone far with our Referral Hospital, Okene as well as Zonal Hospitals at Idah, Isanlu and Koton-karfe. These are modeled to be some of the best in the country. They will all be ready this year. We are also remodeling the State Specialist Hospital and also working on the Kogi State University Teaching Hospital. Our intention is to empower Kogi State to become the medical hub of the nation”, he said.
The Commissioner said the “record actualization of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara is a massive testimony to the Governor’s commitment to revolutionize education in the State”, insisting that no administration has impacted the educational sector in the State as much as the Yahaya Bello Administration.
“We put in place infrastructure for the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara in record time. Today, Kogites are proud of what we have achieved there.
“The State Government is also constructing roads across the three Senatorial Districts. The Lokoja Township Roads, the Kabba Township Roads, Okene, Olamaboro, Omala and many other roads are currently undergoing reconstruction.
“The Ganaja Flyover project which will be the first of its type in the State, is also taking shape as the Governor is committed to the timely completion of the project to ease traffic gridlock within the Lokoja Township.
“The Yahaya Bello Administration is also about to complete Operation Light Up Kogi East Project , an ambitious electrification project that is connecting over 200 communities in Kogi East to the National Grid. The project is 95 percent completion level.
“For the administration to achieve this much, a lot of financial engineering and fiscal responsibility have been observed. Global rating bodies have continued to rate Kogi is one of the top three in the areas of transparency and accountability.
“We want to thank the people of Kogi State for their support and Cooperation with the contractors handling those life-touching projects scattered all over the state. The Governor will continue to serve the people of the state with the best of his abilities till his last day in office”, he assured.
It would be recalled that the State Government is also remodeling some secondary schools in the state in the first phase of the initiative to ensure enticing learning environment across the state.
In the same vein, Fanwo said Kogi State remains the safest state in Nigeria.
“I have been asked this question many times. But I can understand that many don’t know the workings of security architecture. There is no society where crime doesn’t happen. What separates effectiveness from failure is the ability to prevent crime or immediately rise to the occasion to combat it when prevention fails.
“Our effective security architecture as a State is a product of complete commitment to protect Kogi citizens. The Governor leads from the front. There was a plan to attack a particular community yesterday but working with security agencies, the State Government was able to activate her security machinery to deal with the situation. The Governor doesn’t rush to Abuja to complain. He works with the security agencies and local security apparatus to ensure safety. He doesn’t play politics with security. He is a model for others”.
