The Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu today received an award as the Housing Friendly Governor of the Year today at the 15th Abuja International Housing Show held at International Conference Centre in Abuja FCT.
The award which was presented by the Minister of State for Works and Housing Engr. Abubakar Aliyu is for “Sanwo-Olu’s dogged commitment towards regulating the real estate subsector through the establishment of Lagos State Real Estate regulatory Authority (LASRERA). This move according to the Minister of State has helped in reducing the challenges faced by home seekers and protected vulnerable citizens from the fraudulent activities of unscrupulous agents.
Also speaking at the event on behalf of the organizers, Mr. Festus Adebayo said “the Governor of Lagos State has made positive impacts in the area of Housing development by initiating and implementing Housing policies that clearly show an in-depth understanding of the peculiar challenges faced by the citizenry in terms of affordable and accessible Housing.”
The award was received on behalf of the Governor by Lagos State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai who thanked the organizers and said “the recognition will further urge the State Government to charge forward in its avowed task of reducing the barriers to safe, decent and affordable housing for the people of Lagos State.”
Present at the event were the Honourable Minister for Housing, Republic of Ghana, Hon. (Dr.) Freda Prempe, Honourable Minister of Environment Dr. Mahmoud Abubakar, the representatives of the Governors of Borno and Yobe States, Presidents of various professional associations in the Built Sector as well as other stakeholders.
