LASG Reiterates Commitment to Developing 21st Century Professionals in Health, Education Sector

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to developing 21st-century competent professionals, especially in both the health and education sectors

Speaking during the event marking the third Matriculation Ceremony for newly admitted students of Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON), Igando for year 2024/2025 academic session held recently at the College, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr Tolani Sule represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education Mr Adeniran Kasali, emphasised the importance of the ceremony marking the beginning of new era in the College especially with the appointment of new Provost by Mr. Governor.

He appreciated Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for staying committed to the T.H.E.M.E.S plus agenda, especially on Health and Environment, as well as the two pillars on Education and Technology, stressing Mr. Governor’s passion about ensuring quality health care delivery in Lagos through a highly trained professional workforce.

While commending the State Government for putting in place the necessary infrastructure facilities of the new hostel block which is almost completed as well as the construction of the new administrative block, he stressed that the present administration had put in place different infrastructural facilities for the convenience of the students and was also working tirelessly to ensure that the College would not miss its accreditation for the next five years as approval has been given for the process

The Commissioner, therefore, enjoined the students to remain focused, steadfast, creative and be technically driven with innovation as the world is a global village and the 21st century is about technology development and advancement

Also speaking at the event, the Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa encouraged the students to remain resolute and determined to be the best in their academic pursuit to remain excellent.

She admonished the students to ensure their academic growth and professional aspirations by utilising the wealth of resources at their disposal, including mentorship programmes, entrepreneurial initiatives, academic advisory services and extensive clinical training opportunities.

Ogunmuyiwa, therefore, urged the students to embrace three guiding principles, namely – Compassion, Intellectual Curiosity and an unwavering Commitment to lifelong learning.
